Question Silverstar Headlight bulbs

What is the feeling about these in a 2001 F-150?? Will they be too hot for the wiring that is in the truck ??

Anyone have any problems with these ??

Thanx

yeah i had a problem with them: they look exactly the same as the $9 halogen bulbs. if you want a brighter, whiter light get philips crystal vision bulbs, or HID's.

You will get many replies from people who don't like them and those that do, I've had them on my truck for 4 years, and have never had a problem with the wiring. When they do burn out I will replace them with silverstars. I do use the Ultra's which are supposed to be about 15% brighter than the regular silverstars, the regular silverstars are supposed to be 35% brighter than normal halogen. The silverstars put out a white light vs a yellow light on normal halogens.

the philips crystal vision headlights have slightly more blue tint on the bulb to make them appear more like HID's without the cheap blue look. HID bulbs work similar to flourecent bulbs. they produce 3 times more light than a standard halogen bulb. the first pic shows crystal visions in the fog lights on mine and my buddies cars. the bottom pic is my HID's

I have them on my 97 in Anzo Lightning headlights and I love them. I also have Silverstars in the wifey's Windstar, and the daughter's Honda Prelude.

I first used them in the highbeams only on my T-Bird. If you have a 4 light system, you can really see the difference side by side like that.

The only problem I have had is pretty short life in the Honda. The Prelude uses H1 bulbs for the headlights in both high & low beams. The H1's don't seem to last very long, but the H1 bulb is pretty small, about the size of the end of my little finger. That's a pretty small bulb for 55 watts. I really think the heat is killing them in the H1 configuration. 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007 bulbs are quite a bit larger and I have had no issues with those.

I have had the silverstar ultras in my headlights for about 6 months now. I installed them when I put my clear-style headlights in. Incredible difference. Then again, I went from normal lights, stock bulbs, with headlight shades to no shades, clear headlamps and silverstar ultras. Either way they are bright. I prefer low beam and fog lights as they seem to cover more area but be dimmer with the hi-beams on. I would prefer them over a regular halogen bulbs. HID's on these trucks is doable but I remember reading somewhere that they are borderline illegal, but this is coming from the guy that just had 3% tint put on his front windows.

I have Silverstars in my 97 F250 LD, they are really nice. Almost as good as the factory HIDs in my 2005 Lincoln LS. No wiring issues to date, probably in for 9-10 months.

There should not be any wiring issues unless you go to a higher wattage.

Silverstars are the same wattage as the standard halogens, the light is just whiter and brighter because the bulbs are more efficent.
