Having same issue here with my 55 F100 color. Have a color code of 'S', maybe 'S 19H', but can't find info on that anywhere.

"S" or "SS" was used for special order.

Thanks carbs & chrome. I have seen where "SS" was used for special order, but haven't been able to find where "S" was used.
The truck appears to be a United States Army truck, with the original olive drab paint painted over with a dark blue, but I am not sure how to confirm with just the serial number.
I am also not sure how to confirm what the color truly is. Above the color on the rating plate has "S", and after a blank space has "19H", with a production code of "767C". I'm not sure if the "19H" goes with the color or not? Also not sure how to decipher that production code, and have done a lot of research on the matters.

Any help is beyond greatly appreciated as I don't want to completely customize a true USARMY pickup.

Thanks,
EAPIII

I had donor parts that were OD Green under the topcoat. It turned out to be a Mountain Bell Telephone truck, which were a similar color of green. If it's an armed services vehicle usually the dash will have plates riveted on with maintenance info.

19H would be the production date code; 19 August. Military trucks typically have (had) info plates and stencil markings not found on production trucks. Have a good look around and see what you find. Even if the plates are gone, you should be able to find small screw holes in strange places where they once were.

Thanks MERC and ALBUQ. There is another plate in the center of the dash that contains the following info:

Nomenclature
Make and Model
Manufacturers Serial Number
Vehicle Weight Unloaded
Payload Maximum
Gross Weight Maximum
Date of Delivery
Contract Number
Ordnance Stock Number
US Property

__________________________________

The date of delivery is 8/19/55 which goes with the "19H' explanation, thanks a lot!

Would that plate be a sure sign that this was in fact USARMY?

Thanks again for all the help,
EAPIII

I saw on your other post that you found US Army marks on the doors, but to answer your question, any gov't agency usually had the plates put on the dash. I had a ****** Utility Wagon that was ex-Forest Service, and had a brass plate with data similar to yours. Civil Defense, etc did similar things. Must have been a gov't procurement requirement.
