I am particularly fond of gadgets, lites and gauges for monitoring things - ESPECIALLY when they are this simple!! Great thread guys. I just figured out how to do this the other day after a friend did the LED mod on his relay-equipped truck.
The thought crossed my mind about 8 led's, but I decided unless they were somehow sensitive to draw/resistance, they be useless - since the GPCM just turns them all on at the same time, then reports their performance (based on resistance???) to the PCM. Does that make sense?
Now, (2) led's is IDEAL. Here's why. I had to replace the pigtails on my truck awhile back (after I bought a new GPCM and realized that was not the problem...). In this pic you can see new, pink connector and notice on the blue one how the main power pin (from Clay's post) is melted and no longer making good contact!
Make sure to use dielectric grease liberally on applications like this!!
dang i just realizoed i have the more complex gpcm thing! anyone ever switch out it for a regular relay like the old style? or is it beneficial to keep the glowplug computer box?
anyone know a good way without cutting into the wiring to get a wire in there? i have that dang gpcm, and is it ok to just hook the led direct to that wire?
I have the GPCM on my Ex, but dont want to mess with tapping the GPCM... can I just put the wire to the terminal on the relay and get the LED to show when the glow plugs are powered? as it says in this write up? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...wmriceman.html

No. You don't have that relay. The relay you have is the AIH and won't help you with the glow plugs. You'll need to tap into a glow plug wire coming off the GPCM if you want to do this mod.
