so im looking at something to buy for my truck and was looking at the D60 front axle and saw that some said they have 3.54 gears. i thought it was 3.55? i could be wrong maybe they changed it one year. so what years will a D60 fit my 95 f250? what part do i need? and will a 3.54 front and 3.55 tear up my t-case if in 4WD? thanks blake
All Ford 4 wheel drives, and most others, are off by one number in the front.
When your tires are inflated PROPERLY and that heavy engine is sitting on top of the front ones they are effectively the same gears. It's done to prevent geear bind.
RRranch is correct about the gearing. I believe any D60 between 78 and 97 will fit. The earlier ones are kingpin and the later ones are ball joint. I may be off on the dates a bit, but check out the top sticky thread in FTE's 4x4 forum. All the details and numbers for the SAS ( Solid Axle Swap) are there. I just installed a D60 from a '91 into my 2wd. Have a look at my gallery. If you're doing the SAS, consider getting the sky manufacturing RSK. It will improve the ride back to what you'd get with the ttb. Again, check out the 4x4 forum here on FTE these guys do know a lot.
My f250 and f350 front brakes are completely different and not interchangeable. Same for the backs. Be careful with parts stores. Most of them don't have a clue.
FWIW, on the other F350's I've seen the front brakes are all the same as mine too with the D60 axle. They don't go on an F250 axle.

That's because the years don't match. In the same year they do match.
hmm well that sounds like good news. but if i get one with the ingpin which is 91 and older? than i guess they wont be the same and i just bought all new brakes front and rear.
brakes pads are the same from 81 93 maybe newer , calipers run 81 -85 ,86 -93 maybe newer d60 will fit from 80 - 97. 79-down will not fit without modification. 80-97 d60 is direct bolt in
