Radio question?

I have a 1974 F100 which is now restored and pretty much all original. The truck never had a radio so there is no place for one and no antenna. I really want to keep the original look of the truck but would like to listen to music now and then. I dont know if there is anyway to have just a cd/mp3 player/disc changer for the truck which could be under the seat with speakers behind the seat, to avoid the hassel of an antenna? I have heard about a "secret" audio system by custom auto sound which has a cd changer and radio with speakers that can be hidden and works by remote control. It also comes with an electric antenna that is mounted inside the vehicle. First of all it cost alot of money- about $750 just for all the parts, secondly I have heard electric antennas give very poor reception. I really have run out of ideas that would give me a decent audio system, that allows me to keep the stock look and feel of the truck without costing a small fortune. Any ideas or advice please let me know. Thanks

You could hide the head unit with speaker cloth, if it uses a radio frequency transmitter to change stations etc, rather than the infrared transmitters and i think jc whitney might still sell a type of antenna that is like the rear defogger and sticks to the windshield and is flat so no holes to drill.

Reception is best with a good head unit, good 12 guage ( or 10 guage ) grounds to the engine block and a quality antenna signal amplifier that goes inline with the radio antenna wire leading to the head unit.

I have a Sansa MP3 player that I plug into a small battery operated portable speaker. I set both of them in my center console and listen as I go down the road. Now this setup is not a window-rattler but for me, I have music when I drive.

the Sana also has an FM tuner built into it.
