There was a post here in the last few days about a Ebay offer, about $58.00/shipping I think.

Or you can go yarding.

Made of unobtainium. If you can't afford $38...you're not going to get a cable anywhere. These typically have been selling for twice that. The Lokar conversion is probably the most common solution but won't be cheaper, just easier to come by.

Accelerator Cable

I read in a forum that he took a bicycle brake cable and made him one.
Mine is only 20" according to the oem stock number. C5TZ-9A758-AH
There are several web sites I went to to get the part numbers.
oldreliable.com, blue oval truck parts and others I don't remember
The cheapest place was parts@parrauto.com this may be the e-mail address or ftepartsguy.com

There certainly is no reason why one can be cobbled together and made to work. A little ingenuity, some bailing wire, and walla, a cable.

There's a Johns F100 in SoCal but suggest shopping elsewhere, very friendly and helpful customer support but believe they are going out of business and does not know it yet. Ordered 2 horn brushes and insulator over month ago and still waiting, not uncommon, last excuse was that their supplier sent them the wrong brushes. O'well, so much for supporting Ca. businesses. Seem to recall from simular threads the lokar cable is a suitable replacement but have not compared prices.

Bookmarked ND's thread, imagine Bill will be checking in and can confirm.

1966 F100: There are three different throttle cables.

The Merc's use the same cable as the Fords.

C5TZ9A758AG .. Throttle Cable-28.66" long.

Fits: 1965/66 F100/250 240/300 I-6's except with 4WD and with T/E ( smog pump).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C5TZ9A758AE .. Throttle Cable-26.06" long.

Fits: 1966 F100/250 240/300 I-6's with 4WD.
--------------------------------------------
C6TZ9A758K .. Throttle Cable-28.66" long.

A cable from 80 to 86 can be slightly modified as they mount similar and are about the correct length, and have almost the correct ends. Notice i said almost. The post on the throttle pedal will need a bit of modification to accept the capture end of the cable. carb end is ok just get the correct bracket for the years mentioned.

No one makes a repop for the 65 66.

The cheapest place? Uh huh...yeah right. Exactly where the heck did you get this info from?

parrauto is Parr Ford in Bremerton WA and has none of these cables, and hasn't had any for years.

C5TZ9A758AH has been obsolete since 1988, the last MSRP was $71.38. As of last month, NO Ford Dealer, NO obsolete parts vendor has any.

Over the past year, I've found 14 of these cables NOS at Ford dealers/obsolete parts vendors. Originally, I posted the info, but haven't recently, because...

The last time I posted the info, some greedy SOB bought all FIVE of the cables a dealer in GA had.

So...what I did was...I waited until an FTE member needed one, then P/M'd or emailed them the info. All have now been sold.

There was a C5TZ9A758AH cable on ebay recently. Bob's F100 Parts in Riverside CA (951-681-1956) is the seller and he's supposedly reproduced this cable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dave: Which one of these FOUR different 1980/86 cables will work? Inquiring minds wanna know.

Is it EOTZ9A758B (20 7/8")? Or is it E1TZ9A758B (21 1/2")? How about E1TZ9A758 D (19 3/4")? Mebbe it's this one: E4TZ9A758 D (22 1/2").

There are FOUR more, but all are longer than 25 inches.
------------------------------------------------------
Flynn: C5TZ9A758AE .. Accelerator Cable-26.06" long / Obsolete

Fits 240/300 I-6: 1966 F100/250 4WD // 1966 F350/600 / 1966 B500/600 (School Bus) / 1967/69 B & F500/600.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any / 1965 F100/250 4WD 240/300 I-6 (F350/600 & B500/600) uses a different 26.06" cable (C5TZ9A758A).

I found FIFTEEN of these, but I dunno what the difference is, or whether it can be made to work.

Bill,

I have used the 86 4x4 F150 cable with success. Whatever that part number it is. But as i stated you need the bracket to hold the end at the valve cover. They are plentiful in the salvage yards.

Most of everything up till 86 and even beyond can be installed on the 240/300 due to its long run from 65 to 96

Uh...that narrows it down to three cables, what's the engine size of the '86 F150 4WD?

So Dave, this application works for the six but not the FE, correct?
