My wife's 2000 Excursion is experiencing some heating problems .. if not fixed she's gonna drive my truck The problem is that for some reason or another the heater will go from defrost to heat etc. spasmaticaly. I can hear a flapper flap when it changes from heat to little heat. It did the same with the air conditioning. I did replace the heater fan blower, but that didn't have any effect (the blower motor was screeching). Hope some one has a easy/quick fix remedy for this problem. HEY, WE GOT SNOW !!!
Thanks, jessccs
There should be a vaccum operated valve on the heater hoses that block off coolant to the heater core when the A/C is running. If the vaccum line came unplugged it won't work. Just off the top of my head, its easy to check.
There is an actuator motor on the blend door, which moves the door to mix hot and cold air. It could be going out, our Tuarus has had it go out 2 times when it goes out it's nothing but hot air for the Tuarus, both times it happened in mid summer.
is your EX a 4x4... check and see if the 4x4 will engage...not just the lights showing 4x4. my EX had bad front hubs ( they use the same vacuum that runs the heater / ac vent door). there is several post up in the excursion discussion. replacing the auto hubs ($ 325.00 each from ford) to warn manual hubs ($194.00 pair) cured my problems.
