more power

will i get more power if i cut the stock muffler off my 7.3 or should i leave it on and just upgrade the whole exhuast when i get the money

I would wait and put the 'muffler delete' money toward the full exhaust system. You would get more benefit from the larger system than just the muffler delete alone.

Roland is right. Just save a little longer and put it towards a complete 4" system. If you look around they can be had for cheap.

you can get a 4in system for right around 300

In order to produce more HP the PCM/ECM needs to be reprogrammed to add more fuel so simply changing to a different air filter or exhaust system won't make more HP!

It will reduce backpressure but a full exhaust is a much better option IMHO

Just as everyone else already suggested - do the full 4" turbo back. You won't necessarily get a increase in HP but it will help lower EGT's - so when you do add more power via a programmer/chip down the road it will help keep those temps in check.
