looking for a 7 seat excursion
Can anyone tell me what year they started offering the 7 seat version with the 4 captains chairs? Earliest I have seen is 04 but I would like to find one with a 7.3. Would it be easy to replace the 2nd bench with captains chairs? Are they the same as the front seats or different? Thanks for the info.

Earliest for the quad captain's was 2002, if Im not mistaken.
They are definitely different than the front seats. But a member here recently added the front style buckets to the 2nd row... do a search
I did a writeup on the differences between mounting the standard 2nd row buckets and bench here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...l-it-work.html
So, yes it is easy to swap, although pre-2002 EX's will need holes drilled for mounting nuts. 2002-up have all the mounting holes already in the body.
