I did the same thing yesterday.... I tapped in one of those torx sockets and it came righ out. If you get in a bind you can tap it out. If you screw up the threads you can tap it out using a 3/8 npt and put a fitting in it and run an inline filter.

I'm thinking the same thing. Even If I can just salvage a new throttle body I should be good to go. I could use the best parts from both carbs to build a new one.

The immediate issue was I had the truck stuck in my in-laws driveway and HAD to get it moved. The JB Weld is just a temp fix to start it and move it...mission accomplished.

The fuel flooding over the top was caused by a huge pile of metal shards backed up under the needle valve. I cleared those out, put on a new airhorn gasket and problem solved.

While test running it, I have a new issue.

well an easy out didnt work, it actually started twisting the bit, anyways i to ended up goin with a jb weld job but a lil differently, i took a fitting used to connect 2 rubber fuel lines, tapped it as far and tight into the hole as possible, then put jb weld around it, today no leaks and runs perfect, even started without me havin to pump the peddle. now im just gonna put in an in line filter

Well how much do you like your truck. This happened to me in 77 I bought a 75 2xshort wide and drove it 2 blocks to a body shop and had a few dings taken out and painted.
Now when I picked it up I was proud of my new truck and headed for home less than a mile away, about half way there It sputtered and ran out of gas, the guage was on empty so I coasted into the gas station the only business on that road, but didn't make it to the pumps, so I hit the starter to see if it would crank and get me ten more feet.
That is when she ignited all the gas it had pumped on my intake the guy ran out with their only fire extinguisher and it didn't even slow it down. so now I'm standing there watching it burn all the while thinking I get to make 18 payments and didn't even get home with it. A buddy of mine drove by about that time and he just happened to work for a fire extinguisher company and delivered refilled commercial fire extinguishers and saved the day. I only had a big mess to clean up rewire everything under the hood and have the hood repainted. So how well do you like your truck.

I couldn't sleep with JB Weld on it...all I could think of was the scenario starmilt just described. So I found me a $20 carb at the junkyard and rebuilt it. The truck runs great now and plus I just replaced the gas tank...so, no more fire worries.

The carb is too easy of a fix not to fix it right...plus it's cheaper than replacing the truck.
