trans interchange

will the trans and transfer case out of a 92 460 truck work behind my 7.3. I really only need the t case but I can get the trans for an extra 200 an its recently rebuilt. thought for that I would throw it in while i was under there.

The transmission will not bolt up to the 7.3.

The six speed will bolt up if you get it from a 7.3.

Go over to powerstroke nation, this same exact topic came up, basically the end result was, same highway speeds, 200rpm drop and aPITA to mold the floor boards to fit, obs has a lowersloor, lkess clearance

So was the final drive able to lower the rpm's? IE: at 70 i am spinning 2500rpm. Would this lower it or does it just offer a lower first gear?

I don't rember the final drive gearing numbers but if you church 70 at 2250rpm it was about a 200 rpm drop. Some guy was trying to sound smart saying it was a waist of time and the final drive was the same, and the guy who did a swap came in a shut him down lol over all it wasn't really worth the swap, but if you get a killer dseal on a 6spd and a 30rack of beer and a buddy to help ya, then hell yeah man do it up

BTW sam, how goes the settling in? You ready for this chip yet? Lol id be antsy and excited like a little girl haha

I think we're looking for the overdrive ratio of the manual vs. automatic. The six speed manual is 0.72:1. I think the five speed is the same, but I'm not certain. The automatic is 0.71:1 in overdrive. So the automatic will run a few less RPM at the same speed. The difference is so small that it doesn't matter.
