Question on fuel pump brands

I need to replace both pumps and sending units. The truck is a kick around spare vehicle for me and I don't have alot of cash to invest. I found Spectra pumps from rock auto for about 90 for rear and 70 for front (both pump and sender). Anybody have any experience with these brands? I have heard people having trouble with Airtex about 1 year after installs. I don't want to have to drop the tanks again.

I don't know anything about that specific brand of pump, but google/yahoo it- if there's any bad news to be found, you'll find it in a search.

I work at the local Carquest, we sell Airtex. We rarely have one come back, they are good pumps. But, no matter what brand pump you go with, make sure you get a new fuel strainer for the pump and a new fuel filter too. Also, clean out the tank if it needs it. It probably will have some crud in the bottom. If you do those things the new pump should give you years of service. One other thing, never let your gas tank get below 1/8 full. The gas that surrounds the pump is what keeps it cool so obviously if that gas isn't there it overheats and fails eventually.

Spectra Premium makes fuel tanks, radiators, oil pans, fuel pumps, etc. The parts I have bought of theirs were stamped made in Canada. They are a OEM supplier to auto manufacturers.
