So i'm finally getting ready to remove my intake manifold due to a broken bolt,so I have been looking through the archives to see what kind of information i could find.I found most everything that i need except a few things.First of all what kind of tool do i need to disconnect the fuel line?Is there a special name or is it just called a fuel line disconnect?Secondly do i have to remove the distributor or will i get lucky enough to keep it in?Finally to anyone that has done this, how long are we looking at barring not too many broken bolts or any other kind of problems.
Lol it can be 20 below out for all I care.I have access to a heated pole barn, that's why it has taken me so long to do because i had to wait for after new years. She's all mine now.
Don't forget to remove torks head bolt behind upper intake middle. I think it's a T-40 and you need to come down from the top between runners. I use a torks head socket and adapted to long 1/4" extension. Also 4 bolts at middle of lower intake manifold can be hidden in dirt. If lower does come up with gentle nudge; dig around for more bolts. I watched a determined neighbor destroy an intake with a prybar and hammer. Take your time. I just pulled all my injectors with fuel lines and cables attached and laid to one side b4 I removed manifolds.
Yeah I was reading up on removing that bolt and the tools that are needed to remove it.Doesn't sound to bad if you have the right extension and such to remove the torx bolts. So do I understand this right...you leave the injectors in and fuel rail but just disconnect fuel line back by the firewall?
If u are in fact removing the upper intake, then u will need a 1/4 inch drive socket, extension and a t40 socket that one would use in a drill. I welded the bit into a 1/4 socket and it worked perfect to do the job at hand. The fuel rail dont have to be removed unless you are pulling the lower intake as well
I didn't remove fuel line just pulled rail to driver's side along with harness cables. B4 assembly I pulled each injector and replaced o-rings and reinstalled them. They (o-rings) were in the Fel-pro intake gasket kit.
