223 or 300?

223 or 300?
I think I might have found a way to distinguish between the 223 and 240/300. Can some one tell me if this is accurate or not. I was told the 240/300 has more bolts int the valve cover(8) than the 223(6) is this accurate or not. i was also told the intakes are on opposite sides. I found a stamp on the block on the driver's side front near the top that says "262T" does anyone know what this means? If it is a 240/300 how do i tell the diff? Sorry for all the questions I'm waiting on the books to arrive.

223 or 300?
I think the 262 was a larger displacement version of the 223.I also think that a very easy way of telling a 223 from a 240/300 is the shape of the valve cover as the 223 is just a rectangle while the 240/300`s have humps on side,also I believe the 223 only has 2 bolts holding the valve cover on,like on the Y-Block V-8`s,and yes,the manifolds are on opposite sides.

I believe that the easy way to spot the difference between a 223 and a 240/300 is that 223 engines have the carburetor & intake/exhaust manifolds on the drivers side whereas the 240/300 is on the passenger side
