My '07 350 HD 4X4 Has 4 nice little toggle switches on the dash which seem to do nothing creative. Can I use any of them for a work light switch? I have a shell on the bed so I will want to mount the light low.....most likely under the bumper (?) Other than road rash and breaking the lens by backing over my mother-in -laws Lotus (45 whole different thread) are there any reasons NOT to do this?
They won't do anything creative until they're hooked up to an accessory. They are there for aftermarket equipment that the owner chooses to add such as auxiliary lights, the high idle mod, and some have even powered their heated mirrors on them so that they aren't on all the time.
They're covered on pages 69-71 of the owner's manual. If you don't have one, here's a link to the Ford site where you can select your vehicle and download the manual.
Thanks for the info....that is exactly what I needed.
I appreciate the help.
Now, about the 06 POLARIS Ranger...........
Regards
Zeke
Sorry my man, can't help you with the Ranger! The upfitters are nice and the only thing I didn't order on my truck that I wish I had. I'm thinking about getting a set and popping them in though. Let me know what you end up with if you add some lights, etc.
Glad you like it here. Stick around and you'll get information on just about anything you want to know...........and probably some stuff you didn't want to know.
If I get up that way, I'll take you up on that one for sure!
also do a search in the section, there have been a few (including myself) with some posts about reverse/work lights. One guy even added some elec. actuators so they hinge up automatically when not in use or reverse.
I have switches 1 & 2 to run my strobes for plowing and #3 for work lights I mounted to my hitch for backing up while plowing. I installed a set of Nordic lights, N100's. They come as a 55w but changed the bulbs to 100w. Bright as all get out.
