Transmission Issues

'05 SD 6.0 4WD KING RANCH 87,000 MILES

This just happened.

Truck was warmed up from about 5 miles of city driving plus idling while filling fuel tank and the temperature was 35°.

I stopped at a light, made a left turn, started to accelerate and the transmission stayed in 2nd gear for about 1/4 mile, i shifted to neutral then back to drive and the transmission shifted ok.

A couple of days ago I thought the transmission actually downshifted to 1st after moving a few few feet from a couple of stop signs.

Any thoughts on this.

Waited 2 hours and drove truck thru the neighborhood until it warmed up and the transmission was shifting correctly, then, at about 30 mph it decided to down shift. The downshift was pretty rough and then it shifted back up to where it was supposed to be.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this problem?

Could your electrical connector at the case be loose or maybe corroded? 87k is really not enough to kill a tranny, unless your running mods

No mods & had transmission serviced @ 82k.

Take a look at the connector where it connects to the case- I know on the 4r100's, they would sometimes get water in them and make it do crazy stuff.

Does the tow/haul light work? Has it flashed? There could be a code stored that will help diagnose what's wrong.

Truck batteries were almost dead @ 1630 today. I thought the engine was not spinning up like it should for the past couple of days.

Could the batteries be the source of the trouble?

The batteries are about 4 months old.

The flash that runs the injectors for a short time after the engine shut off has not been removed yet. I have been told it is a battery killer.

Charged the batteries and everything is ok. I will have the injector "stiction" flash removed and hopefully the batteries will be happier.
