my friend has 75 ford hiboy with a 390. its not the oringinal engine. but what is really weird is the valve covers are stock chrome with power by ford inscripted on them. I ran the tag on the carb and it came back as 65
Look behind the alternator for the block casting number. And look between the middle two spark plugs on each head for casting numbers. Post the casting numbers and myself or one of the other list members will be happy to tell you what engine it is.
About the stock chrome valve covers, they were original equipment on 390GT and 428CJ engines. You could also buy them from the dealer and some speed shops too.
390--Unless I've been asleep for twenty years and something change--I know you meant look behind the starter for the block casting number, not the "alternator"
stockman, actually there is a place on the front of the block were 352 is forged. But it is not behind the altenator it is on the opposite side under the head. I have worked on alot of FE blocks and I haven't yet seen one that doesn't.
