I have a '78 F150 4x4 with a 4 speed and want add tilt wheel I have not been able to find a tilt collum for a 4 speed from a '73-'79 but I have come up with one frome an '84 F250 and was wondering if anny one has done a simmiler swap or has anny advice.
BB 78 & 79 were the only two years offered that will bolt up on your truck. I believe the reason that you haven't been able to find one with a four speed, is that they were only offered with the automatic. Tilt was a new thing back then. It would have only been found in the bossmans truck.
If you have engineering juices flowing, I sure you can find and make something work.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
I have found that some of the full size passenger car columns will fit in trucks. Take a close look at the way your column bolts in then go to a junk yard and start looking. You should be able to use the passenger car steering column cover to make a nice finished looking installation. I have found that Ford used the same mounting system on just about all of their steering columns. I was in the process of installing an 84 LTD column in my 74 F150 when I sold it (2nd kid made it to small). It was pretty much a direct bolt in but the wiper and headlight switches were on the column and would have required some rewireing.
TLIT WHEEL WAS AVAILABLE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS STARTING IN 1979. I KNOW THIS IS TRUE BECAUSE I HAVE ONE. IT TOOK ME 10 YEARS TO FIND IT. THE BEST PLACE TO FIND ONE WILL BE A XLT BRONCO WITH A MANUAL TRANS . GOOD LUCK!
