A pretty good site to try is autokrafters.com. They don't have everything but they do have a lot. They will send you a catalog which I have ordered form and the service is excellent.
THERE IS TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF DANA 44 3/4TON AXLE. THE ONLY DIFFERENT IS THE OUTER HUD, SOME HAVE SMALLER HUBS THAN OTHERS AND THEY ARE CALLED INTERAL HUBS. THE BIGGER TYPE ARE CALLED OUTER HUBS. THE DIFFENCE BETWEEN A 1/2 TON AND A 3/4 TON ALXE IS THE WHOLE OUTER PIECE OF THE AXLE FROM THE KNUKLE OUT THE HOUSING,SHAFTS, AND INTERAL GEARS ARE ALL THE SAME. BUT!!! YOU NEED TO CHACK THE AXLE RATIO BECAUSE THERE ARE SEREVAL DIFFERENT RATIO IN ALL 1/2 TO 1 TONS. GOOD LUCK CHARLIE
thanks bbb, charlie, hey trail_rider,i know where you're comin' from but my truck is two-tone and that is tacky w\ no trim.and i don't do the trail thing, just mud\snow,and workin' the p*ss out of it!real soon i will have a pic of my truck in the pictorial (a 70)model....blue=
HEY THERE OLEBLUE, IVE GOT SOME INFO FOR YOU ON THOSE FRONT DIFFS. THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE 44 FOR 3/4 TON 4XS. THE LIGHTER VERSION HAS THE SMALLER INTERNAL HUBS WHICH ARE THE SAME AS THE 1/2 TON AND THE STEERING KNUCKLE IS SMALLER. THE AXLESHAFTS HAVE SMALL UJOINTS WITH INTERNAL SNAP RINGS TO HOLD THE CAPS IN. THE HEAVY VERSION HAS A MUCH LARGER KNUCKLE TO HOUSE THE LARGER UJOINT. IT USES A 1350 SERIES JOINT AND BIGGER SHAFTS. WHEN YOU TAKE THESE APART THE WHOLE KNUCKLE HAS TO BE DISSASSEMBLED BECAUSE THE SHAFT WONT COME THROUGH THE SPINDLE BORE AS IT WILL ON THE SMALL VERSION. THIS IS THE SAME WAY THE EARLY DANA 60 AND 70 FRONT AXLES WERE BUILT, THE HEAVY 44 IS BASICLLY A 60 WITH A 44 POT . THE EASY WAY TO IDENTIFY THESE ARE BY THE LOCKING HUB WHICH IS CALLED THE EXTERNAL TYPE. IT IS ABOUT 41/2" AROUND HAS AN INTERNALLY SPLINED COLLAR AND CAN BE REMOVED ENTIRELY BY THE 6 3/8 ALLEN BOLTS.ONCE THE HUB IS REMOVED THE AXLESHAFT WILL BE STICKING OUT.THOSE ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DANA 44s THAT WERE USED IN 3/4 TONS BUT FORD ALSO USED A DANA 60 IN THE FRONT OF A FEW 3/4 TONS BEFORE THE CHANGED TO THE HIGH PINION 60 IN 78. I ALSO HAVE A VERY RARE DANA 70 FRONT AXLE THAT I PULLED OUT OF A 1 1/4 TON MILITARY TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS A 64 BUT UNFORTUNALLY IT WAS TOO FAR GONE TO SAVE. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SEEN,HEARD OR ANYTHING ON ONE OF THESE LET ME KNOW, I NEVER KNEW FORD MADE ONE OF THESE UNTIL I FOUND IT IN THE WRECKING YARD. I PAID 400$ FOR THE WHOLE THING. IF ANYONE WANTS ANYMORE INFO ON ANYTHING YOU CAN EMAIL ME AT mikecolin@sprint.ca THANX
