If you have any movement in your master cylinder it has to be corrected it doesn't take much.
I have had too much play in the cluth rod or in the bushings on the swing mechanism be enough to not allow the clutch to release. But many people tend to think that pumping the clutch pedal will build it up like brakes and compound the problems like cracking the firewall.
I have also changed several clutches that the pilot bearing was the culprit causing the clutch not to release sympton.
where the shifter on a ZF bolts to the trans is the weak point. i broke 5 of them over a 15 year period before i put the C-6 in my 88.
i just went to ford and bought a new one.
Never seen one break even when all the farmers and ranchers used them daily. Ican't imagine shifting with enough pressure to break one even at the splice they must get metal fatigue.
no, the bolts loosen up and BANG!! broken shifter.
i went so far as using permanent locktite on the last one. that one lasted for about 6 years before it broke.
so i just said the heck with it, and put the automatic i always wanted in it.
Mine broke off last summer, it cracked right in the middle of the bottom hole, we stick welded it on the sides so the bottom bolt could be reinstalled, it broke the second time I drove it.
Then I took the little cover off that the shifter bolts onto, and wire welded the stick to it, including filling in the bottom bolt hole. Been working great since.
I need to do the firewall fix when warmer temps roll around.
My temporary fix is a 2x4 wedged between firewall and AC compressor bracket, that's been on there since last april or so
a guy i know is good with fiberglass i guess he builds custom sub boxes but he came by looked at the fenders and said they are an easy fix. i am going to remove them from the truck for him to repair and paint to match the rest of the truck. re installing the fenders is my final concern. getting the fenders to sit flush on the truck what needs to be done?
My guess is if his fiberglass guy builds speaker boxes, that truck might not fit in his shop.
So fenders off to get them in the shop.
Depending on how the crack runs, repairing them off the truck might allow them out of the normal shape, the the fiberglass repair will make them stay that way.
