Help Please!!!

Alright so this weekend I put in all new spark plugs, spark plug wires, battery, oil+filter, gas tank, sending unit, and a rebuilt carb; and get it running for the first time in 6+ years! I was super excited took it around the block a few times and it ran amazing. Next day I start her up and take it down the road I hit about 30 mph and it just dies as if all fuel was cut off. I figured it had to been the mechanical fuel pump so I got out and replace it... now it doesn't start. Its turning over fine just not starting. Any ideas?

Thanks!

first things first check and make sure you still got spark. then you wanna see if you can get fuel pumping to the carb while a buddy cranks the truck for you. if you got those two things goin for ya, than it's a carb problem.

X2. make sure it still has gas in it. i may well be empty if it sat that long, at the very least the gas is stale. give her a shot of starting fluid when you try turning it over, if it fires off that, its not your ignition. that may well draw enough gas in to keep it going. broken fuel lines are also common on a truck that sits that long.

Its not the gas, fuel lines all seem great. 351 W. 4b carb. It was running perfectly and just went to sleep and couldn't restart. Tomorrow i'll have a buddy start it while I feel the carb for gas.

unplug the wire from the coil to the dizzy, put a spark plug in it, using insulated pliers hold it against the engine block (or ground it using another method). have someone turn the engine over, and watch for spark. spark should be easily noticeable.

its only like 10,000 volts from your coil. try getting hit with those new HP HEI coils. 55,000 volts... it really really hurt. use insulated pliers. if you're nervous about it wrap it very tightly with a short length of heavy wire and bolt the wire down so its solidly grounded. use a heavy wire so you can position it so its easy to see.

Checked the fuel line at the carb and it seems no fuel is getting up to the carb. I put fuel in the carb and it starts for a few seconds then dies. I'm pretty lost at the moment =P
