New column old wheel?

I'm looking to upgrade my steering here shortly and as such will need to be replacing the stock steering column. However, I'd really like to use the old wheel and try to maintain as much of a stock appearance in the column as I can.

Has anyone tried this? Did Ford ever change out the mounting, or will a Ford steering wheel work on any Ford column? Also, any suggestions on a column? I am looking to make my truck a 4x4 and will be replacing the front axle and hopefully getting some power steering in there.

Since I have to buy a new wheel anyways, I was thinking of using one from the 60's with the horn ring.

Thanks

I was reading your post this morning and knew that I had seen a steering column that looked like an original. Not sure if this is what your looking for but you can check it out here. How about a new column with a new wheel that looks old? Lecarra has a nostalgic wheel that I think looks very much like a Ford wheel. They make a very good, high quality product, too. Adapter kits are available for most any column you'd want to use.

Thanks
The short answer is no. If it's a 56 you can probably fit an older wheel on it but not a newer one. It's my understanding that 48 and prior (don't know how far back it goes but possibly back to the 30s) steering wheels (truck and possibly car) interchange. If it's a 56 F-100, then you should be able to fit a steering wheel up to 1957 on it (49-57 trucks only). If you want to use a 60 wheel you would need a 58-60 column. I don't know beyond 60.
