so on the same topic, the way it is supposed to work is you twist the **** and it get brighter or darker right? on mine the lights inside the speedometer/gauges do that, but the headlights stay the same brightness. is that what it is supposed to do?
Also going to suggest first check out the dimmer switch. Before replacing, suggest remove the connector, at the dimmer switch, and clean both the terminals and plug. Found applying small dab of dielectric grease on terminals before reassembling tends to slow down the corrosion. Also, check the ground connections at the headlights, believe poor ground on 1 can effect both. Again, suggest small dab of the dielectric grease in harness connectors, and grounding surfaces, particularly during the winter months, usually only need to do so every 2-3 years, if that.
I am having trouble with the headlights going on and off. The switch has been replaced. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem???
Step on the floor mounted dimmer switch to see if the headlamps come back on.
A very common problem on 1960/96 vehicles that all use this same dimmer switch (COTZ13A024A):
When the headlamps are in low beam, and you step on the dimmer switch, instead of the high beams coming on, the headlamps go out.
btw: You do not have an F150. No F150's until 1975.
63' f100: When the **** on the headlamp switch is turned to the right, this dims the dash lights. Turning it all the way to the right turns on the dome lamp.
But this has nothing to do with dimming the headlamps, that's what the dimmer switch mounted on the toeboard takes care of.
