A little Heater help please....

Hey guys,

I have a 62 F100 with no heat. The guy I purchased it from said he thought the blower moter to be out. I was going to use the blower moter off of my 65 F250 to see if it would work in my 62. Unfortunately the 62 looks like a completely different setup. It has a huge blocky heater under the dash on the passenger side. I didn't even see a blower motor. I didn't have much daylight left to look around today. I called the autopart store and they said there isn't a blower motor for a 62. What exactly is done differently on the 62 trucks vs. the 65 trucks? What do I need to try to get some heat going? I am going to try to look at it longer tomorrow with more daylight. I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks

When you say no heat do you just mean the fan does not run? You should have a two speed blower. Has the heater core been bypassed by chance?

My 62 heated much better than my 65 does with the "new improved smaller heater core".

There is no fan running whatsoever. It does have a two speed fan switch although the parts store said it doesn't have one of those either. If you put your hand on the heater box under the dash you can feel it's warm. Now my 65 has an actual blower motor and everything, but I haven't found one on the 62.

Heater boxes are different from 62 and 65. If I remember right, the heater fan stickes out of the firewall by the battery behind the heater box.

The blower motor does not come with the fan, as it's a separate part. The blower motor mounts to the engine side of the plenum chamber (heater box). It's visible under the battery.

The blower motor's shaft fits into the plenum chamber. The fan mounts on this shaft...on the inside of the plenum chamber.

In order to remove the blower motor from the plenum chamber, the fan must be removed first, by removing the access cover.
