New Bronco
found an 80 bronco on craigslist, took the train down to pick it up. i had searched far and wide for an 80-86 half ton or bronco, 4wd, inline six, and manual transmission (the actual 4sp x 4wd). four hour train ride on new years morning got me picked up in a good condition bronco. front end rebuild, trimmed fenders to fit 33's, chrome rims, matching spare, good transmission, solid brakes, six cylinder and minimal rust. two small rust holes, one on each floorboard, have repair panels on order to alleviate the seeing-the-road-through-the-floor phenomenon. heading back to MI this month to pull the old engine, and as many parts as i can fit in the trailer. i had replaced both fenders, hood, inner fenders, doors, all weatherstripping, bellhousing, transfer case, and had rebuilt both axles, and it has four two year old tires on the corners, new off intake, carter carb, headers, the whole package. the rest will probably go scrap (if you're in the area and want the rest, PM me). i'll post pictures as soon as i take some. thought i'd update any interested i finally got the project back on track (sorta...)
I'm leaving for a cultural sabbatical in February (courtesy of the army, to Afghanistan), so i'm gonna try and knock out as much as possible before then. i'll probably be posting updates like crazy as problems and victories arise.
to everyone who encouraged me on before, its still sticking, and i'll still get it finished.
as an interesting note: someone installed a filter on the line going to the heater core. i'll take pictures tomorrow. has anyone else ever seen a filter on a heater hose. with an occasional flush and refill i've never had any problems. anyone else ever seen a filter on a heater line?
