solid axle conversion

okay from a post i just posted i have found the kit to covert my truck to soilid axle. i have never done anything this extreme but i wana try. i have all the parts i think. dana 44 axle with 3.55 gears, leaf springs and some nesesary hardware.does anybody know any dimensions i need to know? has anybody ever attempted this with maybe some tips i need to know?

sweet, i am not alone lol. well i talked to the guys at farmboy fabrication, as so did you, and they are sending me all the stuff i need for the front. they said the kit will alow me to mount all my stuff, springs, axle, etc. well i have a donor axle from my 79 f-150. its a dana 44 with 4.11 gears. i dont want to go extreme lift on it just about 12" or so. have you had any major problems when you atach everything? i know its probley posted but i dont wana go through 9 pages of peoples crap so i figured i would just ask you.

Im not done yet...lol
The rear went ok and is just about done. The only problem you we might run into is the front driveshaft angle being to much. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
IMO, I'd ditch the 44 and get a 60. Ive been down the road with my other truck and its an expensive and frustrating one.
What size tires are you going to run?

i plan on running 38" boggers. well as for the dana 44, its what i had. i dont have the money to get another one right now, because of all the other stuff i had to buy. i might could trade it for a dana 60 at a junk yard and rebuild it, i will try that. as for the drive shaft, i got a tom woods custom drive shaft ordered. i got it from 4xshaft.com. they make a 42 degree angle cv joint and i had heard good things about that from some of my rock crawling buddys.

i am not sure when i am gona start this project though. i am in the process of geting a new one. ford raptor if it all goes well. so this truck will become a trailor truck.

i think it cost me about 500 bucks because its a custom built application, but i have to change out the input and the output shafts to fit the driveshaft. that was another 200 bucks.
