I have a 1969 F-250 with a 360 and I am in need of a head rebuild. My question do I have to worry about getting hardened valves due to the unleaded gas or not. My second question is will heads from a newer 360 fit on my 1969 360 V8?
Thanks for the responses

The conventional wisdom says to have the hardened seats installed if you are rebuilding the heads. I personally have not seen any emperical evidence which suggests that the seats must be replaced. There was thread started on this subject a few months ago, but it didn't amount to much. I've been struggling with whether to use a lead substitute in my 66 since I just completed a rebuild (see my site for details). Later model 360/390 heads will bolt right up.
Just my opinon, But out of the ten set of heads around here none of them have shown any recesssing of the seat. When I had the last set rebuild the machinst stated the harden set where reguired at 175.00 with cost of the rest of it. I decline on the seats. It not a race motor or haul heavy loads. So I am also interested this.
