i just had my 05 psd at the dealership for a turbo cleaning.when i called to check on status they said they had turbo off and tech was "sandblasting"it.ive read the tech article on here and was wondering if sandblasting was a normal practice?also since the truck was returnred it seems to be lower on boost.im only using factory boost gaude so i know its not exactly accurate but it always seemed to be around 27-30 psi before service but now it stops at 20 psi every time.thanx for any info.
Maybe you also got the new flash, IIRC some guys were saying their boost was lower after the flash. I'd call them Mon and express your concern and see what they say.
so i spoke to the dealer about my boost issue and the tech told me anything over 20lbs was normal which i thought was a little vague.when i told him it was originaly around 29lbs he looked at me as if i had 3 heads.off to the dealership it goes again monday.
29 is pushing the outside limits. Everyone I know with a 6.0 are usually between 22 and 26 with a load. Our boost gauges are pretty acccurate the sweep could have been expanded however for more accurate reading.
I recently took trip up north with -20 temps and had some issues with fuel gelling. I noticed my turbo boost is running a full 10 now when on interstate (level ground). I have a new fuel filter set to change (I am due anyway). I don't remember the boost being that high before - I think that is why it seemed out of the ordinary.

Just a thought... is the egr valve unplugged? An unplugged egr valve will have less boost with higher rpm's and more boost in the lower rpm's.
tex wat would cause it to boost up that high to 35psi , and as soon as i seen it boost that high i backed out of it right away
Vanes sticking could do it, which would relate to an EGR system concern.
If you are running a programmer(particular a heavy ad brand like Banks, Edge, BullyDog etc), those have been known to cause overboost conditions such as that. Even some SCT programs from certain tuners(people) have been known to cause high boost numbers, it just depends on what they did in their programming.
Even having the tuner could cause the vanes to stick as well and there you have an overboost(that's what I would call an overboost anyway, it may not trigger the actual DTC saying overboost condition).
ive read on hear u dont wanna go over 26-28 psi boost but one thing on the new truck 05 and up the factory boost gauge has a red area that goes from 35psi to 40psi so most people would think 35psi was on the edge of acceptable boost pressure.
