5w-40 Syn for the winter months only?
Can I change from my normal 15w-40 oil to 5w-40 Syn. just for the winter months and change back to 15w40 after winter when the temps start rising again?Would that hurt the truck switching back and fourth?
I want to do it just for the winter months so I can keep the cost of oil changes down.I don't have any cold start issues I just want to make it easier on the truck. If ya don't think it's the best idea changing back and forth every year I'll just stick with the 15w-40 year round. What do you think?

It all depends on how long you want to keep your truck. You shouldn't have any problems with the dino oil. Synthetic is proven to greatly reduce engine wear during starting and at high temps. I change mine every 5000 km. If you extend your service intervals, then you are just reducing your number oil changes and aren't really any further ahead when it comes to making your engine last longer. If you want your engine to last and intend on keeping the truck, then keep the regular service intervals and use synthetic. Yes it does cost more, but in some ways it's true that you get what you pay for.
