Does anyone know where I can get a decent quality floor jack without breaking the bank? I need to do some work on my 1/2 ton truck. I usually use my dad's 3-ton jack but want to get my own. Hopefully in the next year I can get in to a PSD - I'm leaning towards a 350 CCLB SRW. Would a 3 ton jack work OK for general stuff there or do I need some more power?
If a good jack is going to cost me $400 I might just hold off and borrow one for now.
I bought a 3 ton at Walmart 10 years ago and it's still doing fine. And mine gets used all the time. Got a Michelin a friend brought me that was only 6 month's old and quit. Go figure. Without spending big bucks, they're probably all made in China. A 3 ton will do anything you want on that pickup, just never trust any of them and alway's use jackstands.
I got one of those Michelins at Walmart, had about 5 years now and still use it anytime I need to raise a vehicle. Autozone has one for about $90, my dad has one of those. He doesn't use it a lot but it always works when he does.
I just got the $99 3 ton from WM and I really do not like it. It is the low version so it does not lift as high but mainly I can not get it to "seep" down but the release is all or nothing.
Well as far as breaking the bank goes, this isn't it ....but I had the privilege to use this jack this weekend and if I had the cash,I would snag this up...great jack!!!
