Stock truck 5* glove box door . Had the accent mldg replated . The paint is close enough for me . I like the look as it will be viewed by the owner frequently .
Ash tray for the same .Mldg was also replated .
The complete set . Have the polished speaker grill mldg put aside with the other parts.
A special thanks to 51panelman for the pic posting info .
Wow! Those look great! I really like the hammer-tone paint job, too. Can you tell us who did the plating and what the damage was? I've block sanded mine nice and flat and got all the pits out. I just don't know who to get ahold of to make 'em shiny.
About a month ago there was a thread about the "correct color" to paint these and there was some debate - Argent, Light gray - whatever. I painted mine light gray - but just because my second interior color is going to be light gray.
I kept a second set as well to replace the ones I've modified with the clock and logo on the glove box with stock. I also had a speaker cover and radio delete plate chromed.
Good timing, I have just cleaned all the same parts yesterday and need to decide on paint color. My truck is going to be 2 tone and my thoughts were that these parts should be painted the same colour as the fenders. My fenders are going to be black or Mercedes Grey |(looks black). Then I also need to decide what the heater colour should be.
Appreciate any comments and direction

Well, based on a multitude of comments from a multitude of members on a multitude of threads, I would venture to say it's really up to you.
The consensus (that I don't particularly agree with, but eh) is that the dash parts were painted Argent (a darker silver) The painting specs don't address it specifically but it does state that the second interior color in the panel trucks was light gray. The only light gray color for those two years was "Silvertone Gray"
See this link for color chips (way down at the bottom):
Recent discussion about the heaters narrowed the color down on the Magic Air Fresh Air heaters to Black or Pounded Aluminum depending on the year. But I have only seen them in the pounded aluminim. Recirculation Heaters were painted with crinkle or pounded paint in either black or dark dark gray.
Here is a picture of two "Magic Air" Fresh Air heaters restored by our own Denny (firstrider). Aren't they BEAUTIFUL? (how'd I do this time Denny...Tee hee)
And a picture of a recirculating heater in dark dark gray pounded (Pewter?):
Here is an early recirc heater - probably 48 or 49 in the Pounded Aluminim:
This is what I have seen, although by now you probably realize there was some variation in these things coming out of the plant, so nothing is etched in stone. They all look great don't you think. Now all you have to do is decide. Hope the pics helped!
BOR , had the work done at Space Coast Plating in Melbourne ,Fla. Cost was $75.00 for the 2 pieces of dash trim. Also had the 2 gauge cluster bezels done $90.00 .They did an awesome job straightening the 2 stock bumpers for the stock truck .The front bumper had a bad bend on the left front end . They did an incredible job . Of course they had no specs to go by so gave them the specs from the 1ST-RIDE front bumper .
The rear had a dip in the center & a hole there also for a ball hitch . They got it perfectly straight and I made a bung for the hole . After some TIG welding and minor grinding it disappeared .Sand blasted both ( my least favorite resto process ) did some minor filling, sanding, epoxy primeing ( I swear by this process ), more sanding and painted them both satin black .Might get the 1ST-RIDE out of it's hiding place fire it up and take some more pics . The bumpers are in the back with the left front fender for the 1ST-RIDE . Later ,Denny
