i appreciate the responses. i'm taking notes and i'll definitly be lurking around here. i have noticed some serious rust problems on the roof. i dont think i want to get that involved in body work. maybe someones project thats half done. anymore tips or advice...i'm all ears. thanks guys.
In British Columbia. The Okanoogan. If you know where Vancouver is it's about 3-4 hrs. from there.
i'm not even going to think about telling my wife about that trip. unless i set up a three day vacation and just happen to look at a bunch of trucks while we are there.
look for a 2wd long bed and a rusted 4wd f250 and do a conversion, this way no lengthening of frame and you are more likely to find a less rusted 2wd, otherwise be patient, keep on the prowl and be ready to go at a moments notice to pick up the one you are looking for. I went to south carolina for my 77 crew cab 4x4 long bed, then bought a basket case 74 crew 4x4 short bed for a primo cab and am combining the 2 to what I want, in the meantime I picked up 2 more for parts
pm me w/ some contact info...I may be getting rid of my parts crews when I get closer to my completion of mine
that sounds like a good plan. i can stretch the frame. a childhood friend of mine has a welding shop and it well within his capabilities. he just got done doing another shop vehicle(f550). so it is a option for me if i find a nice 4wd truck. i'll PM you now.

I saw another one tonight in a town about an hour away. Parked next to the street that was for sale. I looked to be in great shape. I was a 2 wheel drive.
just remember that the frame stretch requires 2 frames, whereas the 4wd conversion only reqires a 4wd set up or the front frame clip..
here are some pics of what I got going on..77 lwb 4wd f250 crew
what I started w/, sold duallie fenders
good pictures. why do you need two frames? on my freinds f550 he just used channel and cut the original frame and welded the channel in place and then drilled and bolted plates to the new part to the old part. eveything he does is overkill. his primarty buissness is welding on all kinds of heavy equiptment, rock crushers, screening plants etc.
I can try too explain it w/out a drawing, not sure if it will come out right..
if I wanted to add 18" to my frame, I would cut it under the bed area as mine was on my truck, frame #1 and on the 2nd frame I would cut it fwd of where my cut was on my 1st frame , thus obtaining my desired wheelbase, but I would have been certain to have staggerd my cuts, 1... 18-24" fwd of the cut on the opposite side frame rail...does that make sense, this way the cuts would be able to be cut down from the top, angled back and cut down to the bottom of the frame railand not inline w/ the cut on the other side, the pics show a plate to the outside, has since been removed and a section of old frame from a donor rig is being bolted as an overkill to the inside so that there is no visible extensions seen..hope this explains it???
Another way to search craigslist is to do a search on Search Everything on Craigslist,Search all of Craigslist. This will do a complete craigslist search, not just one area. Not sure if you knew about that or not! I'm in PA and found my '74 4x4 crew in oregon! I lucked out buying it sight unseen and had it shipped back to me. There are a few honest people left out there yet, but deciding who to trust is hard!

To do this do you put "search all of craigslist" in the search field then what you are looking for ?
For ex " search all of craigslist 1978 ford f350" ?
