DO I HEAR A FRIDAY IN THE DISTANCE?
looks like it will be a little warmer today, i hope. our boss has been turning off the heat in the shop at night, and it doesnt warm back up until its time to go home. working in the cold isnt bad, but it gets difficult to do wiring and other fine motor skill when your fingers are numb.

Evening all. Dominion Nuclear Connecticut owner/operator of Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT is offering a Voluntary Separation Program to eligible employees of 55 and older with 3 or more years of service. The way this works, I am eligible at age 54 (Jan 16) with an 18 month extension. Out of 1100+ employees, they want to loose 225. WOW

I suppose if you didn't want to leave, and you met the criteria, they can force you out, so that could be called early retirement, especially if you wanted to stay to 62 or 65. Lots of those greedy guys think retirement means living the lavish life they have right now. In reality, only a few who planned for retirement could leave before 62 or 65 and live the same way. The rest will have to move out of Connecticut and down size or go bankrupt trying to maintain a mortgage on a $250.000+ house plus the local taxes ($5000/year), utilities, insurance including health insurance and such.
