I recently pulled the 6 cylinder/tranny out of the truck I'm re-doing (74 f100) in favor of a 460/C6. The question I have is how I can tell what transmission is bolted to the six'r. It is a two piece transmission. Is it a C6? The tail housing looks the same as the one on my 460/C6.

I am assuming you have an automatic tranny. Now when you say it is a two piece tranny do you mean removable bellhousing? If this is the case then it is either a C4 or an FMX. A C6 is one large aluminum housing plus the aluminum tailshaft housing. The C4 has an aluminum bell housing, an aluminum case, and an aluminum tailshaft housing. The FMX has an aluminum bell housing, a very large and heavy cast iron case and an aluminum tailshaft housing. Hope this helps.

the bell housing and case are all one piece with a separate tail housing.
