Another fender question!!
My bodyman is putting my front sheet metal back on my 51 F7 and he noticed a gap between the fenders and cab. I did a search on this subject on this forum and from what i read this gap is there for a reason. I guess when the frame flexes, the gap is there for some slack for the sheet metal. Is that statement correct? If so, what would happen if he removes the gap? Its probably an inch or so and he claims he can move the fenders closer to the cab for a better appearance.
Thanks for any help,
Keith
Not sure if you know, but there's specific weatherstripping that is placed in that gap. Look for the cowl-to-fender seals at any of the repro parts houses.
Mac's has them. http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000021F
You may need more than one pair set since your fenders are slightly larger than the F1.
Are you sure he has the fender supports in the right holes and the radiator support inthe right place?
If so go around and loosen all the inner fender bolts and the fender support bolts and pull them in with a strap. Then tighten all the bolts up with it strapped and see if that doesn't take some space out.
