Tow/Haul switch intermittent

Tow/Haul switch intermittent
My Tow/Haul switch will not always turn the function on, and once on it will not always turn the function off. Sometimes I can get it on while still in park. sometimes not. Anyone have any ideas or experience with the same problem. Thanks.

Sounds like a frayed wire or a bad switch. If under warranty I'd take it to a dealer.
If not I'd pull the cover off the steering column and start testing wires to narrow down where the problem is.

not the same.. mine didn't work at all when I bought the truck.
broken wire in the shift lever..
take the upper and lower column covers off
unplug the cable on top of the column
test the switch action by using the wires at the connector..
I removed the shift arm retaining bolt, and took the arm to the shop..
the switch just rests in the column, I pulled a new wire thru and soldered it to the original (stub)..
same on the connector end..

SUCCESS!...Ive been having the same problem and took the covers off, Turned the Key on, Shifted to D, pushed the Tow haul Button while I wiggled the Tow Haul Wire that connects to the harness (on top of the column) and found when I bended it Right it worked.
I also found where the wire was not connecting was right where (towards the middle) all the stress is when you shift the lever
I will be reenforcing the wire heavily as I can see this is a flaw in design on a wire that moves. My truck started this around 125,000 miles
Thank you, now on to the same issue with Cruise, which I believe might be the PRessure Switch...
