connect 3 and 5 you say? I figured connecting 1 to 6 would send power straight to the starter and crank the vehicle with the key turned to on. also the connection at 5 goes to the ignition right? that's what makes turning the key activate the starter? cause I believe I have a breakage in that wire somewhere then.

also no I don't have a tilt wheel, the wheel has a gear with a bolt like thing that goes between the teeth to hold it still when the key is in off position.

3 to 5 you say? I figured hooking 1 to 6 with the key turned to on. since that would theoretically put power straight to the starter. also the wire at 5 goes to the ignition, that's what activates the starter when you turn the key forward right?

also no I don't have a tilt wheel. it completely locks in place with a bolt like thing that goes through the teeth of a little gear around the steering column when you turn the key back.

You can use a paperclip or some other little wire to trigger the fender mounted relay (bypassing any need for the ignition switch)

This is what he's saying when he says connect 3&5.

3 to 5 is a small circuit that you can jump with a small wire or paper clip like was mentioned. 1 to 6 is a huge circuit, major current flowing through that. If you want to jump 1 to 6 you will have to use a larger jumper cable, and get ready for some sparks.

3 to 5 is the way the truck normally works, so that would test more things to see if they are working.
