Intake question

So I want to purchase a cold air intake and was wondering between K&N and Airaid which one would you guys choose and why. My other question is I have heard that without a custome tune you can run lean on your fuel and the computer will throw a code at you. is this true.?

So should i just get the tuner first the worry about the CAi?

Buy the CAI if you want to make noise, buy the tuner if you want to make power.

I would save the rediculous amount of money a cai is going to run you and spend it on something that will actually make a difference....like a tuner....

Cai's do virtually nothing.....they should be on the same list as tornados and tb spacers.....all the really do on a stock motor is make noise...

I have both the CAI and edge tuner. If I were to do it again, I would ONLY do the tuner and put the CAI money towards the electric cooling fan swap.

I put some sound deadening material around the CAI and it has reduced the noise a little. But to be honest, I kinda like the extra noise coming from the front. At least it sounds like I'm going faster.

Programmer is the best bang for the buck for power. As stated in a previous post, all that a CAI will get you is more noise and possibly some codes without custom tunes to compensate. I reccommend SCT with custom tunes or a Gryphon tuner from PHP. I prefer the SCT because it actually flashes the PCM and there is no chance of any connection problems. The Gryphon is an Edge with custom tunes by PHP and it's well thought of on this site as well.

i agree with everybody above about the tuner. dont go edge im not happy with the tuner in mine. i do love the gauges.

BUT ABOUT YOUR ACTUAL QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

dont go K&N or air raid. you need to get an enclosed CAI like a volent or a S&B

your motor runs at 190* so your engine bay aint going to be much colder so your going to want something pulling air from the outside world.
