Santa brought my son a 08 diff cover for his super duty. Now we are having a hard time finding longer bolts. i bought it from the Thinkparts in Wa, and will call later today. Local stealership told my son $13 PER BOLT.... wow . is the bolt a special pitch, or metric thread? We don't want to bugger the threads with an incorrect bolt. Never fails, I need his truck to haul a steer for slaughter this weekend! Thanks all, and best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year!

They are just regular bolts. I think they are 5/16" SAE, but they might be metric. Regardless, I got mine by measuring the length of the old bolt and adding the thickness of the new diff cover at the bolt hole to it. Then I walked in to my local ACE hardware and bought the exact bolts I needed for probably 7-8 bucks (I used stainless steel).
There is really nothing special about these bolts other than you need longer ones to account for the thicker diff cover.
Make sure you put the threads of old and new together, side by side, with threads together and that they are exactly the same, but longer lenght, old farm boy trick, but its a lot easier than re tapping after you use the wrong thread pitch.
