Dana 44 lockers
ok. from what all of my buddies tell me. and they all have trucks with no less than 7 inches of lift and 35s. on a dana 44 front axle. 1 you should never run bigger than a 35 inch tire. and b you should never put in a locker. both because you will snap axle shafts. however my axle is a '66 half ton high pinion with 8 lug hubs and im running 38s. and the only time i ever broke an axle shaft was because a u-joint cap came out and ovaled the hole for it. so my question is do they know what theyre talking about or can i run a locker or limited slip with 38s?

for the most part they are right but it all depends on your driving style and the terrain your on... a dana 44 is not the strongest of axles to start with but when you add big tires and lockers it could be dangerous. if you really wanted to run a locker you could upgrade to 4340 shafts but its still no dana 60.
