I have a 2001 F250 SD V8 5.4 4x4 with on-the-fly hubs and ABS. Just bought the truck and dont know too much on these Fords (I can tell you all about Toyotas pickup and Tacomas though). On the pass side my front hub assembly or wheel bearing assembly i believe is worn. If i grab the axle u-joint i can wiggle it all around particularly around the wheel. Would I replace the hub assembly or just the bearing? Im tight on cash so im hoping that i can get out cheap.

Are the AutoZone Valucraft ($114) crap? AutoZone.com | | Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly-Front | VALUCRAFT HUB BEARING or would i have to buy a Timken assembly($325+)???

 

there is a small roller bearing that the axle rides on inside the hub, it can be replaced seperatly at alot cheaper price, if the wheel wobles then its the expensive hub bearing

You can get the hub from Napa with Timken bearings in it for $234. I don't have the p/n on hand but I am sure that most Napa's have them as stock items. Mine did and it's a rinky dink small town.
