Looking for some Advice
I have heard soo many people say the exac thing about their Bilstein purchase! I have found the solution. In my laymen's terms...
4x4 excursion(all I know about) has weak...weak weak front springs. If you go look under your truck in the front, you will find that if you still have factory spring pack in the fron, you have an inch or less of suspension travel before you are sitting on the bumpstops! Your Bilsteins are fighting a sagging and woefully un-supported front end on a 8000 pound truck.
What is needed is the right front spring(preferably Ford). Many people use V codes or X codes in the front and B codes in the rear with a tapered block. This actually puts the suspernsion at a little bit higher than stock but will make you quite a bit happier with your Bilstein purchase.
I have heard the 30mm F350 rear sway bar will also firm up and support your truck. Its supposed to be $100 at the parts dept.
I am in the same upgrade world as you and after talking to many many many people about this, I found a solution and drove a truck that IS what I was looking for when I bought my truck. Firm ride without being bone jarring and having solid road manners.
If you've got the air bags already, then the Helliwig sway bar is definitely the way to go. Never mind the RAS, since your air bags are already doing part of what the RAS does for you, and the sway bar will do the rest.
