yes. i have experienced the same issue. as you feather the throttle, it downshifts for a split second and then goes back into the higher gear. or it may be torque convt unlock and lock. i dont think its an issue for durability. mine is a 2010 too, so if there are complaints on this, it will take them a couple of months to develop a reflash. thats how these things are fixed. interestingly, my 6speed in my 2008 denali has the same issue on decel about 30 mph, but it actually clunks pretty good when it happens. FYI the F150 is really nice, best truck ever
Same here with my 2010 Lariat. Trying to maintain 30mph, it floats in and out of (I think) 4th & 5th gear. When this happens, a whining/grinding? sound happens at the same time. This problem seems worse before the truck warms up. Not sure why? Maybe the reprogramming will take care of this?
I have a something new going on that has me puzzled. When I leave out of my driveway headed down hill, the transmission holds in first and doesn't upshift. That revs the engine a bit and really holds the truck back at a time when it's not needed.

Mine has done the exact same thing (grinding/whining) around 30 mph, its happened twice in 5k miles. both times the truck was thoroughly warmed up and I was traveling on gravel roads running between 30-35 mph. other than that trip it has shifted nice and has never made any sort of noise. if I took it in I don't think I could get it to act up like it did. If it starts to do it more often I will take it in. so for now I'm just gonna continue to enjoy it and not worry

Low speed shifting is tons better after the transmission reflash at the dealer. It now distinctly stays in one gear or another, no more pointless waffling back and forth between gears! Hoping it stays that way. The truck had 100 miles on it when I got it, and must have "learned" some bad shifting habits from someone!
I have a 09 lariat 4x4 and hate the tranny, I had the reflash done still hate it, don't know if any of you have towed with this trans yet but going up a grade with the tow haul off, towing a bassboat under 6k, and the truck will not thottle up with light pedal increase and if I step on it, it shifts down so hard and tachs up to 5 grand, horrilbe...
going down a grade with the tow haul on, doing about 55 I braked because of a oncoming 35 zone and the trans down shifted what flet like 1st gear and the tach again jumped up to 5 grand, this tranning is a dog...
My 06 SD 250 6speed auto trans was a dream compared to this one.
Don't feel taking it back in for another flash until the ford boys figure it out....
I had a 2008 F250 and that tranny was a dream compared to this one too. This thing shifts very hard. I have done the tranny update and it is still horrible. I am a ford fan but, I really wish I had opted for the older style transmission. Could this be a quirk that is further made worse by a split driveshaft giving play? I have a crew cab 4x4. Between 20 and 30 mph it does a very hard shift especially if you let off the gas a little around then. Man I wish I had just kept the 250 a little longer.
Anyway, the roof around my sunroof is falling AGAIN! and I need to have the sync TSB done because the mic sucks. Anyway just venting a little.
I just wanted to say that I have the same shifting problem with my 2010 f150. It does it more when its cold and around 30 to 40 kms an hour and then when u step on it the tranny shifts severely hard. I test drove 2 other new trucks that did the same thing, needless to say I am kinda pissed off about it. Gotta take it in and see what ford is gonna do with it,,,,

Your 06 F250 did not have a 6 speed it had a 5 speed. The 5R110 was a 5 speed that has 6 forward gears but only uses 5 depending on application. Hope you have your truck straightened out and are enjoying it as much as I am. BTW why are you towing w/o the T/H engaged?

Thought the SD Lariat was a six speed, loved it anyway, I've had it in twice for the tranny issues, first time they did the reflash, helped alot but still was troublesome, the last time, they said all was good, of course!
So I told them about the issue's going up or down grades with the tow haul on, so now it's looks like I got to take them fishing....
I various issues towing with the tow haul. I just think they missed it with this tranny on the new trucks... So no I doun't use the tow haul while towing this boat.
Good luck tc and the others who feel like the tranny is terrible. I've had my '09 into the shop for the 5th time in a year. I have never been picky about vehicles but this one is extremely annoying. It has improved a little since driving it off the lot but it is still very jumpy even after multiple flashes, especially going up a slight incline between 1500-2000 rpms at slight acceleration. It kind of feels like it is missing or choking. I wished I still had my '04 F250 CC 4x4. It was much smoother than this F150. At any rate, it is what it is so I'll deal with it. After my next biz trip, I'm taking it to another dealer for one last try. Gets old having to wait around and get some cheap azz rental from Enterprise every visit.
Does anyone else notice a hesitation when creeping along slow like at a stop light with your foot on the brake? Man this transmission is weird. I'm just gonna drive it and see what happens. That is what the power train warranty is for.
Towing my bassboat over a steep hill this weekend I too noticed the rapid downshift once you hit the brake pedal. It seems to me like when it is in tow/haul the computer senses when you are off the gas and braking and down shifts to improve breaking. The concept is good and with modern computers/sensors in these vehicles this could improve towing performance. It will take some getting used to. I am thinking about getting a programmer so I can play with some of the shifting options.

My 2009 has a really bad hesitation problem except mine does it whenever I accelerate from a complete stop like it can't find the correct gear to shift into. I am even getting a severe jerk when I am accelerating at a higher rate of speed (65-70 mph). I have had my 09 for a little over a year and I absolutely love it but the 6 speed started having these issues about a month after I bought it.
I figured I would just wait to see if the computer can learn my driving style then it would go away but it has gotten worse. I am taking my truck in tomorrow myself to have it looked at to see if they can fix the problems.
