fuel pressure
I need to know what the fuel pressure should be on a 390. I tested mine today and it was only showing 5psi. Is that good? Also, when you give it a little gas it goes down to like 4 then back up to 5. Sound like i need a new one? Thanks

The reason im asking is because ive never seen one go down in psi when you give it gas. I thought it should stay steady. Thanks for the reassurement though. I havent really had any probs put i want everything to be right.

BigBlockHead, I just read that in the Library today. Six to Eight Lbs. I always thought Four was adequet but... It was in the Chilton, Emissions manuals. There's Vacuam diagrams and all kinda interesting stuff in the Emissions books.

When the needle and seat are closed, presure is at its highest (from what ever the pump will put out)... when you step on it and the needle falls away from the seat, presure is relieved from the fuel line and fuel is flowing into the bowl till the Volume in the bowl incerases and the needle closes again (like opening/closing the faucet)
