I looked at the Eaton, looks tight, but I don't want a limited slip. I want both tires powered when I get on it. I think the Aussie locker is the one I'm going to get.
The eaton is called a limited slip because it unlocks when you turn , when it locks there is no slipage , is like a spool when your on the gas, alot of the mustang guys are using these at the strip because they hook good & don't burn up clutches....Lew
both tires ARE powered on a limited slip, hell both tires are powered with a open diff untill traction is lost then all power is transferred to the spinning wheel, do a little research on how the different differentials work, if you just do light wheeling in mud, running down dirt roads and puddle jumping a good LSD will work just as good as a locker for you and have better manners on the street, if you are doing any heavy rockcrawling then you might benefit from a full locker, like i said earlier in the thread, a LSD in the rear and a locker in the front will make a VERY capable truck.
my old xj cherokee with suspension,33"s and only a LSD in the rear was very capable on the rocks, it would go anywhere my cousin's locked, dual tcase 4runner would go i just had to choose my line more carefully.
run a full spool in the front diff and a dam good locker in the back. ive been running fords limited slips and they are ****. i keep blowing clutches. but putting a full spool in my front diff was the best thing ive done. when you want to drive on the highway unlock the hubs and tcase and your good to go.

I know how a LSD works, no need to research it. When I'm going through the snot and the truck is on a angle I want to make sure there is no limited slipping, thats why I want a locker. And for the price of the Eaton, I would rather go with a full on Detroit. Thats why the Aussie is appealing, price.
If I were to spend $$$ on a locker, LSD, etc on these trucks, I would either:
1. Put a Auburn ECTED in the rear (It's a limited slip that can be locked,) and if that's not enough I would put a Detroit TruTrac(LSD) or Eaton E-Locker(push button locker) in the front.
or the reverse appoach
2. Put a Eaton E-Locker or Detroit TruTrac in the front. Leave the rear factory LSD (if so equipped) alone. If that's not enough, then put a Auburn ECTED or Eaton E-Locker in the rear.
The front TTB Dana 44 probably will not appreciate a locker with the 35's though. Be careful if you end up locking the front. I would play it safe, and run a LSD or keep it open up front if I were on big tires. If you haven't regeared the truck for the tires, now would be the time. That ECTED diff is appealing to me because selectable so it offers the best of both worlds. It should elimitate the want/need to lock the front unless you are into extreme off roading. As we have all heard it said "If you are going to spend the money, do it right the first time."

LOL ok, just Lincoln lock it front and rear and be done with it.

What is wrong with the TTB front end and 35's? I never mentioned putting one in the front(locker), but I have warn lockout hubs. But for now I would be happy with a locker in back.
