Will 33" tires fit?

I have a 1979 f150 4x4 with 31" mud tires on it right now. They have plenty of room and I have plenty of power. It is stock hight with no lift at all. Could I put 33" tires (12.50 width) under it without scraping? Where would they rub if they do hit? Has anyone done this? Thank you

Will 33" tires fit?

These will fit with no lift, when under full compression they may do the rub thing on the rear of the rear fender, the front may also rub under certain conditions, when turning with compression, most likely at the front lip of the front fender. Also keep in mind that not all 33's are the same height, some are 33 and most are a little less than this. Rim width may effect this somewhat too. Wider rim, slightly less height, less sidewall bulge, narrower, little taller with more sidewall exposed. If used on the street, this combo will be fine, if you do the off-road thing, you may find that the rub a little more than you would care for. With 12.50's, you might consider getting flairs or extenders for the fenders as these will stick out a little bit and is noticable, don't know about where you are, but here that's an invite for cops to pull Ya over and check out everything. Rim offest will also play a part, the deeper the offset the less they stick out. Mild lift of 2" is easy and reasonably cheap if you find you need this, not many extra mods(driveshafts, steering, drop brackets, ect.) that have to be done unless going 4" or more. Hope this is what you're lookin' for, Chuck P.

Will 33" tires fit?

I have a 33" on my 78 F150 right now as a spare, and 31's all the way around. The 33" fits with no problems, but does look like it'd hit the fender if you beat on the truck off road.

Will 33" tires fit?

my brother and i have owned several 78 & 79 150's
we've always ran 33" tires with no problems. i own a 79 f150 4x4 now with a leveling kit (1 spring in back and a little taller coils in the front) running 35" 12.50 and have plenty of room.
the sheet metal usually isn't the problem, if they rub at all it will be on the inside up front when turning with wider tires.
