Groundhog day...

So I go out to my truck today and notice a pool of oil underneath. Check under the hood and trace the problem to one of the HPOP outlets. Hmm, done this before...

After calling around, I find a dealership with the repair kit in stock and take my wife's car 35 miels to pick it up. Come back home and dig into it, and I can't remember what trick I used to get the HPOP line off (and I ALMOST bought a set of quick-disconnect tools yesterday... d'oh!). Naturally I come to FTE and search 'remove HPOP lines' and produce a thread from 2006 with another dude asking the same thing. Well what do you know, I was the one that replied on how to pop them off (though, to be fair, someone else chimed in with a much better answer)

I just found it eerie... it's like the Ghost of YellerMax Past came to the present to solve my problem.

Though for the record, I used the other guy's method

Yup... and for $10.49, as opposed to the $28.xx Ford has them for. Unfortunately, the closest Int'l location that had it in stock was an hour and a half away.

Probably worth the trip if a more expensive part had gone out (HPOP, injectors...) though usually that makes a good excuse to upgrade

I often wonder why people disconnect the line from the fitting. Personally, with all the grief that has been posted about this procedure, I chose to just use my 3/4" wrench and remove the fittings from the HPOP. No worries about clips, (not so)quick disconnects, or any of that grief. Just my 2¢.

I don't have a good wrench that will get at it, so I remove the line so I can hit it with a deep socket and an extension. Also allows you to get a torque wrench on it to put proper specs on the fitting when you put it back in
