5.4 Engine Knocking
99 F-250 //5.4/ 108,000miles While driving up hill full throttle transmission would not shift out of first (rpms at 4500)let off gas till it finally shifted.Now getting a very loud knocking at certain rpm range.Loud at start-up and after letting off throttle.Sounds like a diesel at cold start.Dealer thinks its timing chain tensioner.Thinks i should go with a reman. longblock due to miles and other possible internal damage.$4800.00 installed.Any ideas or suggestions.

Dealer claims trans. not shifting right because of timing chain/engine not running right.Trans. is a reman. Ford just installed in march.They cut $1200.00 off if get engine before end of year.Makes me wonder?
