Blown header gasket

Hello, new to this forum. I have a 460 with D3VE heads and L&L headers. I blew out the gasket on one of the exhaust ports after about 500 miles or so after putting the headers on. The gasket came with the headers and looked like it was good quality so I used it. I would like to know what is a good header gasket that can withstand the heat, that I won't have to replace all that often?

The gasket you got was probably a graphite or composite gasket. There are gaskets made from copper that would work well.

Add a set of Stage 8 header bolts to eliminate the bolts backing out too. Check and make sure flange isn't warped and torque the bolts properly.

Haven't had a chance to replace the gasket yet. But I will look into the header bolts. I didn't know there was a difference. I checked the flange before I put it on with a straightedge and it was good. No hills or valleys. The flange is 1/2" plate, not sure how easy that would warp. It blew out one night we were out driving around and my wife said "GET ON IT !!!". So I did. Now I have to fix it. Women. I probably didn't have it torqued right. But on second thought, it probably is her fault.
