We usually only post up about something bad but I'd like to relate a good experience I had with my 2007 6.0L F250.
We had driven 200 miles from Tucson to Show Low, AZ on Christmas Eve. We planned to spend the night at our place in Show Low and continue on to Orderville, UT (south-central Utah) the next day. We arrived in Show Low about 11:00am and made a couple of stops before driving to our cabin. After the third stop, the engine would crank but not start. No smoke from the tailpipe. The temperature was in the upper 20's but the engine had been running fine and we hadn't stopped for more than 30 minutes at any of the stops so fuel gelling seemed unlikely.
A call to the local Ford dealership service dept, Show Low Ford, revealed that they were closing early for Christmas at 3pm so we had less than 3 hours to get the truck to them. AAA got us a tow truck to transport the F250 to Show Low Ford and they had it in their shop by 1pm. The diagnosis was a bad FICM and they had it replaced and ready to go by 2:30. The service manager said there was a lot of paperwork to do for the warrantee but they would mail it to me rather than keep me and their staff waiting to go home for Christmas.
So our trip wasn't interrupted and the repairs were covered by warrantee.
Sure made our Christmas happier!
I had a bottle of the white PSP stuff with me but hadn't added it to the tank yet. I also read some other threads about FICM failures caused by weak/dead batteries. Although mine only have 25K on them, they are just over 3 years old. I think an ounce of prevention would be worth it in this case.
mine had 1 at 10 volts the other was fine ,, i was at a little over three years ,32k .. but suspect it was bad for a while ,, the dealer didn't disconnect the 2 to test them so I always got a good report ,, tested myself and found the battery was bad ..( this is why I do my own service now )
and yes it may lead to ficm issues
Well it's nice that AAA got him to the Dealer in time,,,and that the Dealer had the parts,,,,,But your truck should of made the trip without a Hic-up,,,YES,,,,,NO ??
That was the "Positive Experience" I was expecting to read!
